Public Notice to Lafayette Parish Citizens
Louis J. Perret, Clerk of Court and Chief Election Official for theParish of Lafayette will
hold five (5) meetings for persons interested in becoming certified to serve as follows:
COMMISSIONER
Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 5:30 PM
Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM
Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 5:30 PM
Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 5:30 PM
Location: Lafayette Parish Courthouse
1st Floor, Jury Assembly Room
You do NOT need to let us know when you will attend!
Please attend one meeting that is at the most convenient time for you!
This meeting is for those who have
NEVER SERVED
as an election commissioner.
Pay is $200 per Election with required school attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A Lafayette Parish Registered Voter who is able to perform the essential duties of a commissioner.
A seventeen (17) year old who is participating at a 12th grade level or has completed a 12th grade education.
A qualified voter of this state or a registered voter of another state who is a student at an institution of higher learning in Lafayette Parish (Must provide student identification or fee bill showing current enrollment and a copy of his/her proof of voter registration)
Must not have been convicted of an election offense as defined in Chapter 10 of the Louisiana Election Code
Must not be required to register as a sex offender or child predator pursuant to R.S. 15:542.
Law enforcement officers shall not be eligible to serve.

THESE TESTS ARE FOR CURRENT
COMMISSIONERS TO RECERTIFY FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS.
Camera phones are not permitted in the Lafayette Parish Courthouse.
