The Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court office has access to birth certificates for Louisiana only.  We can retrieve birth certificates from approximately 1930 until near current date.  This is a walk-in service only.  The cost to receive a birth certificate from the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court is $34.00.  The cost to receive a certified birth certificate and birth card is $48.00. The fees are payable in cash or credit/debit card.

NOTE: Birth Certificates for anyone born before 1983 may require a minimum of a 1 hour wait or a return trip to pick up the completed certificate.

ATTENTION:

Effective May 23, 2016, a Birth Card can only be purchased at the time a Birth Certificate is purchased.

A Birth Card cannot be purchased by itself as per R.S. 40:39.1.
